All the other feeders we tried made of plastic fell apart or looked like garbage after one season. What I like about this one:* Solid metal construction throughout*Screen mesh allows seed to "breathe" and stay dry (provided you cover it (see below) and allows "clinger" birds like finches to grab sides and pull small seed out*Bottom tray attracts feeders and a good size for most birds but big bully birds like pigeons don't seem to like it*Two compartments allow for different food - good to minimize wasteUpdate: Had this now for a month and notice on issue, the ports where the seed comes out are too small for seed blends that have large nuts and fruit. I had to constantly go out and unplug them with a coat hangar wire. recommend you stick to smaller seed to optimize flow and not have to mess with it.I added a plastic "roof" on the top to further cover the seed tray so it stays dry (lots of problems if seed gets wet).I'd buy again but suspect this will last a number of years with some care and maybe fresh paint every few years.
